Shopping For Clothes
It all started with this skirt! I saw it on the Zulily website. I loved the fun handkerchief hem and the colors. It reminded me of a skirt I used to have that I literally wore out. I put it in my "cart". The next day I looked at it again. It was $24.99 and I knew it was a good choice! I ordered it.
After I received the skirt, while I was waiting for an appointment I saw this cardigan on the Old Navy website.
After I received the skirt, while I was waiting for an appointment I saw this cardigan on the Old Navy website.
For one day only it was $10. I went to Old Navy and tried it with the skirt. Loved it. Bought it.
I also found a sleeveless top at Old Navy to go under it, something like this but even better. This was $19.
I now have a brand new complete outfit which cost me about $55. Because of the sweater it can take me well into the fall season. No regrets.
I wish this post ended here. But NO I got totally excited about purchasing a new outfit and wanted to do more of this! You see I usually buy a piece of clothing and then try to make something I already have work with it, which often doesn't quite work out. This buying an outfit thing is really great!
On the way home from Grand Rapids I stopped at Ann Taylor Loft at the Outlet Mall. Everything was 40% off. I got a pair of black dress pants. I found a flutter sleeve black and white top to go with it.
The pants were originally $79.99 marked down to $47.99. The top was originally $44.99 marked down to $26.99. Total $74.98. I did not feel as good about this purchase as time went by so I tried to sort out why. First, it was impulsive. I wasn't looking for anything in particular. Secondly, on coming home and looking thru my closet I found I already have a pair of black dress pants that are just fine. The top is a nice addition to my wardrobe. I wish I had looked thru my closet and made a list of items I need. I now know I need tan pants and a white top.
I am going to try and save money in the area of clothes by first looking at my wardrobe and then deciding what piece or pieces are needed. Shopping online does allow me to think it over, sleep on it and then see if I still think its a good idea. If I do go to a store I want to make sure I know what I am looking for and that they have a sale going on. I may need to read this post over many times to remind myself! This is a tough area for me.
